arete Australia was appointed as the Construction Manager for the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) discovery research laboratories and clinical trial facilities, successfully delivered in April 2024.

The new facility provides a seamless pathway from pre-clinical research to clinical trials, promotes direct collaboration between lab-based scientists and clinical researchers, and is designed to offer a comfortable and supportive environment for trial participants, enhancing their overall experience. It supports scientific innovation by integrating lab-based research with clinical trials, accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into practical treatments.

Additionally, the facility boosts local research by ensuring that new eye treatments and devices developed in Australia are trialled locally, benefiting Australian patients and reducing the need to take research offshore. Key features of the project include the following:

Modern Patient Lounge Area:

  • A welcoming and relaxing space for trial participants and their carers
  • Includes an assistance dog station to support participants with special needs

Imaging Suites:

  • Equipped with the latest imaging technology to support comprehensive eye examinations and diagnostics

Vision Lanes:

  • Designed to conduct precise and controlled vision tests

Laser and Dark Rooms:

  • Advanced facilities for specialised treatments and research in eye care

The completion of CERA’s new discovery research laboratories and clinical trial facilities marks a significant milestone in eye health research. arete Australia is proud to have delivered a facility that not only meets the highest standards of technical excellence but also fosters innovation and collaboration, ultimately benefiting patients and supporting the local scientific community.
