In November 2020, arete Australia was awarded the $2 million La Trobe University BS1 School of Nursing Upgrade project.
The project involved the demolition (including extensive hazardous materials removal) and fitout of an existing 550sqm floor plate on Level 1 of the Biological Sciences Building 1 at their Bundoora campus.
The on-site program was aggressive in order to meet the expected Semester 1 commencement date, with students scheduled to commence on campus learning in the first week of March. The project was approached with an ‘all hands on deck’ attitude from all parties with clients, consultants and trades all working closely to ensure progress was maintained on-site.
Being constructed to a hospital grade finish due to the intended function of the space, meant there was a large focus on coordination of the technically complex services, including mechanical, medical gases, electrical and medical panels and the AV teaching system, while also ensuing the finishes are installed to the same exacting standards.
The fitout provides the University’s School of Nursing with a modern and state of the art Nursing Simulation Space for the 2021 teaching year and beyond.
The project reached Practical Completion in March 2021.
