In 2017, arete Australia partnered with The Royal Melbourne Hospital to deliver the PET/CT Expansion project, a 560m² internal fitout for the hospital’s rapidly growing Nuclear Medicine Department. The expansion was designed to enhance PET/CT services, providing vital diagnostic and treatment capabilities for both immediate patients and the broader community.
PET is widely used for cancer staging, treatment planning, and monitoring therapeutic responses. Its role in clinical cardiology and other systemic diseases is also expected to grow significantly.
The newly developed facility includes a general administration and reception area, waiting room, staff spaces, general offices, a waste room, medical storage, four shielded patient uptake rooms, a shielded hot lab, a shielded PET/CT scan room, an equipment room, control room, shielded discharge waiting area, and both patient and public W/Cs.
The project reached Practical Completion at the end of 2017.
