The Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences refurbishment was one of the first projects to be delivered under the University of Melbourne's Framework agreement.
The building, which previously consisted of physiotherapy labs, lecture theatres and workspaces was demolished and transformed into one of the state’s most advanced Optometry and Vision Education centres.
Works included the design and installation of the structural steel skeleton to the existing building façade in order to strengthen and meet current day standards. The end result is a great deal of hidden structure and striking 4,600sqm of optometry, physiotherapy, teaching and office spaces.
