In June 2021, arete Australia was engaged to deliver the $16 Million heritage fit-out and refurbishment project for The Department of Education and Training and VSBA.
Our team tackled the challenge of modernizing a three-level heritage building to house the state's flagship Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership. The Academy supports a blended teaching model of face-to-face and digital learning, allowing teachers to enhance their professional practice and connect with like-minded individuals across the state.
This once state government office building has been transformed into world-class adult learning and teaching spaces, function and event spaces, and staff accommodation. We tackled the complex three-story project with significant structural alterations, entire building services upgrades including the latest AV technology, bespoke interior fit-out, heritage restoration, and landscaping works.
Our team also took on various complex feature elements, including a revolving presentation stage, three-story atrium linking stair, thermal and acoustic rated glazed partitioning, and glass floor structure. In addition, conservation works were carried out to eliminate the cause of water ingress and rising damp around the building, covering rainwater goods, external drainage, and retention work.
