In June 2021, arete Australia was engaged by the Department of Education and Training and the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) to deliver a $16 million heritage fitout and refurbishment. The project transformed a three-level heritage building into the state’s flagship Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership, a world-class facility that supports blended face-to-face and digital learning for educators across Victoria.
The once government office building now features advanced teaching and adult learning spaces, function and event areas, and dedicated staff accommodations. The arete team carried out significant structural alterations, comprehensive services upgrades incorporating the latest AV technology, a bespoke interior fitout, heritage restorations, and landscaping works. Key highlights include a revolving presentation stage, a three-story atrium-linked staircase, thermally and acoustically rated glazed partitions, a structural glass floor, and critical conservation works to address water ingress and rising damp.
Completed to the highest standard, this project ensures educators have access to exceptional facilities that foster professional growth, collaboration, and innovation.
